About site
DrunkenCamp.com was established in 2001 as the official U.S. English website for Korean hip-hop legend, Drunken Tiger. It serves as the official English hub of providing English speaking fans news about Drunken Tiger.
DrunkenCamp.com originally took the format of a regular fan website with photos, forums, lyrics, etc., however, over time, it seemed apparent that fans were more interested in knowing Drunken Tiger for who they really are (the up close, real, personal experience) versus the generic fan site that most artist usually have. Thus, DrunkenCamp.com was relaunched on September 21st, 2009 in a more journalistic format that documents Drunken Tiger from the first hand personal experience.
About Drunken Tiger:
Drunken Tiger is a Korean hip hop artist which debuted in 1999 and has since released eight albums. In an era of packaged pop and repetitious ballads, Drunken Tiger debuted and reformed the Korean music industry with their unique hip-hop sound and realistic lyrics. Although their music and resistance to conform to mainstream music’s conventions initially made them one of the more controversial figures in Korea’s conservative media, Drunken Tiger is now seen as one of the most influential and central pioneers of Korea’s mainstream hip-hop scene.
Currently, Drunken Tiger’s central figure is Tiger JK. Other members affiliated with Drunken Tiger are DJ Shine (left in 2005), DJ Jhig, Micki Eyes, and Roscoe Umali.
About the writers:
DrunkenCamp.com is mainly managed by a local street team in Seoul and DC’s founder, El. She originally was based in the U.S. and followed DT’s activities mainly overseas. However, she has recently moved to South Korea and is reporting on Drunken Tiger’s activities both internationally and in Korea.
If you would like to write for DrunkenCamp.com, email us drunkencamp@gmail.com. Korea based writers with weekend availability are preferred.
Wow, this took me by surprise. I visited the drunkencamp website a couple months ago and it was depressing as hell. It hasn’t been updated in so long. GLAD TO SEE DRUNKEN TIGER ALIVE AND WELL
Thank you for all your hard work to make this site updated.
I have two questions:
1. I found the link to this site on Druken Tiger’s official website and I guess that means this is DT’s official English website. Is this still a one-woman operation? You are working for him – why do you have to pay for the tickets to DT’s performances? =O
2. Do you have any plans to interview him for English-speaking fans any time soon?
Thanks!!!
I choose to pay for the tickets most part, unless it’s extremely expensive. I feel like I’m freeloading if I want free tickets all the time and the backstage access.
I haven’t really found an article to write revolving around the fans. Ideas?
Is the original drunken camp site along with all its content gone forever?
maybe fans around the world or something like that? what about writing a book about JK?
I noticed the big revamp, i was going to help out but when one of the admin’s asked for a portfolio i couldn’t offer one cause the server with all my designs and graphics crashed. haha. I like the blogger concept. Gives drunken camp a completely different feel that isnt bad at all.
but where do i go for my lyrics and merch now?
u need the korean or the translations? translations are a bit harder bc translators are hard to come by…
Translations would be alright, but I wouldn’t mind having having the straight up korean lyrics either.
Thank you for always keeping me updated! I remember when I stumbled upon the old site a few years ago. Its really great to see things alive, and kicking again!!! Truly inspiring!
